After a long break Alex returned to racing at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, 5th round of the 10 round series.
Alex qualified in 14th place for race 1 in a qualifying session interrupted twice with yellow flags. Qualifying for race two saw Alex establish himself on grid 7.
Starting from grid 14 in race 1 was always going to be a challenge with the objective of making it into the top 10 to collect some championship points. With approximately 70% of the race complete, when Alex was in 12th, the heavens opened and the safety car was deployed. Within a couple of laps the event was red flagged and drivers collected only half points.
Race 2 saw Alex pass a driver on each of the first two corners and quickly start to challenge for 4th place. At this time a fault occurred with the car that made it impossible for Alex to move up and in fact he had to defend his position to the end when he managed to finish 7th. A gritty and determined drive in difficult circumstances that allowed Alex’s championship campaign to stay alive.
