Jackpot at Monaco!

The Monaco event is held in such esteem by the drivers that it’s nearly a championship winning feeling coming away from Monaco with a win. Every driver wants to win this one!

Alex and his team MP Motorsport went into the weekend following a less than satisfactory result from Silverstone where they experienced a number of issues that didn’t allow them to express their full potential.

In the one and only practice session in Monaco Alex showed very good pace which was confirmed in qualifying with the fastest lap in his group, putting him on pole for Race 1 and grid 2 for Race 2.

In Race 1 Alex had a great start and was clearly leading into the first corner. Within a few laps he had extended his lead further while posting a series of fastest laps.

By race end the gap was approaching 4.5 seconds. A dominant win!

In Race 2 a great start was needed to get by the pole sitter. Alex’s start was in fact excellent but so was that of Charles Milesi on pole.  Race pace was good and second place was where he finished at 1.6 seconds from the winner. An outstanding result!

Could the weekend get any better? Apparently yes! As a race winner Alex received an invitation to the Grand Prix ball on Sunday evening where he finally got the opportunity to meet fellow Aussie and GP winner, Daniel Ricciardo. What a weekend!

With a great haul of points from Monaco Alex goes into the next event in 8th position in the championship.
